That's the word from Lorine St. Jules, the New York City-based representative of the Saint Lucia Tourist Board who said last year's record breaking tourism arrivals and expenditures were being matched this year with very strong interest from the consumer travel market.

St. Jules spoke following this weekend's popular New York Travel Times Travel Show at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City where the island showcased some of its top hotels and resorts, as well as new attractions and special events and promotions.

"In today's challenging economic environment, the travelling public continues to be focused on the Caribbean," said a thankful St. Jules, who noted that Saint Lucia's charm, beauty and hospitality are not the best-kept secret they used to be. "The word is spreading that Saint Lucia offers a high quality, value-oriented vacation experience," she said, noting that when it came to the weddings and honeymoon market, the island maintains its top ranking.

The Saint Lucia Tourist Board joined hands with hotel partners Almond Morgan Bay, Anse Chastanet and Jade Mountain, Cap Maison Villa Resort and Spa, Hotel Chocolat, Ladera, The BodyHoliday LeSPORT, Rendezvous, Smugglers Cove Resort & Spa and Stonefield Estate Villa Resort & Spa to showcase the island and to promote the forthcoming 20th anniversary of Saint Lucia Jazz, the "Go Bananas" Summer Family promotion, and the PASS travel agent specialist program.

The New York Times Travel Show is one of North America's premier travel shows, attracting a unique global representation of the world's leading tourism markets including Africa, Asia, Australia/South Pacific, Canada, the Caribbean, Europe, Mexico, Central America, South America and the United States - and of course, Saint Lucia.
